Introduced in 2011, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster continues the evolution initiated by the model launched five years earlier. It is still based on the VH platform, a modular aluminum chassis that served as the basis for several Astons of this period. Under the hood, we find the 4.7-liter V8, an evolution of the previous block, increased here to 420 horsepower thanks to reworked engine management and some internal changes. The Roadster maintains the same mechanical layout as the coupe, with the gearbox at the rear for better balance.
The Onyx Black example illustrates Aston's taste for simple configurations, where the color seems to change according to the light. The hood mechanism, which is relatively compact, can be folded in a few seconds and releases a fairly pure line despite technical constraints. The interior, as always at Aston, combines classic controls, aviation touches and sometimes particular ergonomics, a legacy of previous models.
The V8 Vantage Roadster from this period now occupies a special place in the history of the brand. It is one of the last non-turbocharged models to maintain this characteristic sound, and one of the last relatively “pure” proposals before the arrival of more complex technologies.
