Our BMW Z4M Coupé, first registered on September 22, 2006, now shows 64,500 km. Delivered new in France, it remains registered in the country and changed ownership on September 26, 2017. The current owner has held the car for nearly nine years and is a true BMW M enthusiast, with several M models to his name.
This example is finished in an elegant Titansilber Metallic exterior color, paired with a black leather interior. The bodywork is in very good overall condition, with only minor signs of wear noted on two wheels. The interior is equally well preserved, with the leather, steering wheel, and gear knob all in excellent condition. All dashboard instrumentation functions perfectly.
Powered by the naturally aspirated S54 inline-six producing 343 hp and paired with a manual gearbox, this Z4M Coupé delivers an authentic and engaging driving experience, true to the spirit of BMW M from the 2000s. The mechanical condition is excellent and the car has always been serviced within the BMW dealer network.
Maintenance has been carried out exclusively by BMW dealerships. The vehicle comes with its service booklet and the corresponding invoices.
All consumables are in very good condition, including the tires.
No modifications have been made to this example, which remains strictly in its original configuration.
This BMW Z4M Coupé is supplied with two keys, the certificate of administrative status, the service booklet, invoices, a valid technical inspection, and a CarVertical report available.
Note: BMW internally designates the Z4 Coupé as E86 (the Roadster is E85). The Z4 M Coupé arrived in 2006 as the hard-top twin to the Z4 M Roadster, and as a spiritual successor to the Z3 M “Clownshoe”. It was the last compact M car to pair the legendary, high-revving S54 straight‑six with hydraulic steering and a manual gearbox—an ingredients list that has since become cult material.
Born from the 2005 Z4 Coupé concept, the production E86’s ultra‑stiff shell transformed the already taut Z4 into a proper driver’s tool. BMW M lifted the 3.2‑litre S54 from the E46 M3, breathing through six individual throttle bodies to make 252 kW (343 PS). With a short 2,495 mm wheelbase, a mechanical M differential and passive M suspension, the Coupé felt raw, immediate and wonderfully mechanical. Officially it did 0–100 km/h in about 5.0 s and was limited to 250 km/h, but the real story was the way it chased the redline and talked through the wheel—helped by ditching the standard Z4’s electric steering for a hydraulic rack.
Launched into a hotly contested segment, it squared up to the Porsche 987 Cayman S, Nissan 350Z and Audi TT. Period tests often crowned the Cayman the purist’s choice for ultimate balance, yet many reviewers praised the Z4 M’s engine character, steering feel and edgy, old‑school temperament. Top Gear’s 2006 review loved the soundtrack and pace but called the ride firm and the limit handling spiky on poor surfaces—criticisms echoed by others, which only added to its reputation as a car that rewards skill.
Production was brief and relatively low—about 4,581 M Coupés worldwide (2006–2008), making it rarer than the M Roadster. There were no CSLs or Competition Packs, no SMG or DCT—just a six‑speed manual, big brakes, 18‑inch Style 224M wheels and non‑run‑flat tyres. Practicality surprised many: the Coupé’s hatch swallowed roughly 300 litres, making it a genuine weekender for two. Colours like Interlagos Blue and Imola Red have become favourites among collectors.
Beyond the road tests, the Z4 M Coupé found a second life on screens and consoles—appearing in driving games such as Gran Turismo, Forza and Need for Speed—cementing its status with a new generation of enthusiasts. Today, its significance inside BMW M lore is clear: it was the last compact M to deliver naturally aspirated, high‑rev thrills with unfiltered steering feel. In an era moving rapidly to turbocharging and electronics, the E86 Z4 M Coupé stood as one of Munich’s final love letters to analogue performance.
