Our Citroën DS20 Pallas, put into circulation on April 5, 1972, is an emblematic example of the French automobile. Delivered in its original Metallic Sand color (AC 318), this DS is distinguished by its remarkable state of presentation, both exterior and interior. It has 76,900 km on the odometer.
The interior is dressed in the very elegant “Tabac” leather (AM73). The front seats have been completely redone, with headrests added for added comfort. The rear seats, on the other hand, are original, and have a beautiful patina with cracked but healthy leather. The dashboard is in excellent condition, as is the instrumentation, perfectly functional. Only vintage radio no longer receives current frequencies.
A complete painting was carried out 5 years ago, in the original shade, and without compromising on quality. The vehicle shows no trace of corrosion, and the chromes are shiny and well-aligned. Maintained by a vintage Citroën enthusiast, this DS drives perfectly. It will be revised for sale, and no costs are expected.
The historical record is particularly rich, a reflection of the constant care given to this vehicle over the years. It includes a large number of invoices for parts and maintenance, several technical inspection reports, as well as the vehicle registration document. A complete and structured package, a guarantee of the seriousness of its follow-up and the passion of its owners.
Here are the main recent interventions:
06/08/2021 at 71,556 km
16/03/2023 at 72,987 km
2025 revision scheduled for sale
Total amount of expenses incurred over the last 4 years: €18,000 (mechanics and painting).
Presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1955, the Citroën DS marked a turning point in the history of the automobile. Designed by Flaminio Bertoni and developed with the help of engineer André Lefèbvre, the DS impressed upon its release with its aero dynamism, comfort and technological advance. Its hydropneumatic suspension, power steering, semi-automatic transmission and front disc brakes made it a revolutionary car for the time.
The DS20 Pallas, a high-end version launched in the 1970s, represents the heyday of French luxury. With its meticulous finishes, leather upholstery, thick carpets and chrome elements, it is aimed at demanding customers in search of comfort and distinction. The Pallas also stands out for its specific equipment, its reinforced soundproofing and its more opulent presentation than the other versions.
The DS became legendary thanks to its remarkable appearance during numerous historical events — in particular the Petit-Clamart attack in 1962, during which the DS saved the life of General de Gaulle thanks to its exceptional handling, despite flat tires.
Produced until 1975, the DS remains today an icon of French motoring, recognized for its timeless design and technical refinement. Models in good condition, with a complete history and original configuration, like the one we are offering here, are becoming rare and highly sought after.
