Example maintained within the official Ferrari network
Discreet and elegant Nero Daytona configuration
Ready to hit the road
Desirable naturally aspirated Phase 1
Our Ferrari California 460, first registered on 25 February 2011, now shows 58,700 km. Originally from Italy, it is currently registered in France and has had three owners, including one Italian owner followed by two French owners. The current owner has owned the vehicle since November 2016.
This example is presented in an elegant Nero Daytona finish, paired with a black leather interior. The bodywork is in very good overall condition, with no particular defects to report. Cracks in the lacquer on the wheels have been repaired for sale. The cabin is also very well preserved, and all onboard instrumentation functions perfectly.
Under the bonnet, the naturally aspirated 4.3-litre V8 produces 460 bhp and is paired with an automatic gearbox. This first-generation Ferrari California therefore offers a particularly successful combination of performance, comfort and driving pleasure, while retaining the character of Ferrari’s naturally aspirated V8.
Maintenance has been carried out exclusively within the official Ferrari network. The vehicle comes with its service book and invoices, allowing its maintenance history to be traced back over several years.

When Ferrari revived the storied California name in 2008, it wasn’t just a new model; it was a statement of intent. The California was Ferrari’s first front‑mid‑engined V8 road car and the brand’s gateway gran turismo: a 2+2 coupé‑cabriolet with a retractable hard‑top that could genuinely be used every day. Under its long bonnet sat a 4.3‑litre, direct‑injection V8 good for 460 PS, paired primarily with Ferrari’s first 7‑speed dual‑clutch transmission. Carbon‑ceramic brakes were standard, the chassis was all‑aluminium, and the boot was big enough to make weekend getaways effortless. It arrived just as rivals like the Aston Martin DB9 Volante, Bentley Continental GTC, Mercedes‑AMG SL and Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet were courting the same grand‑touring crowd.
Ferrari stacked the deck with technology. The California debuted a string of ‘firsts’ for Maranello: direct fuel injection on a road car, the 7‑speed DCT, a multi‑link rear axle for better ride/traction, and a fast‑folding metal roof. Optional magnetorheological dampers gave it impressive bandwidth, from supple boulevard cruiser to sharp B‑road companion. Period testers often noted it felt less raw than a mid‑engined V8 Berlinetta, yet praised its steering feel, balance (with rear‑biased weight distribution) and remarkable real‑world pace. Top Gear and the motoring weeklies framed it as a Ferrari you could daily: comfortable seats, usable rear perches or luggage shelf, and a cabin that didn’t punish you for long drives.
Customer response vindicated the strategy. The California brought a wave of newcomers into the fold—reportedly more than half of early buyers were first‑time Ferrari owners—broadening the brand without diluting it. In 2012, Ferrari sharpened the recipe with the so‑called ‘California 30’: +30 PS (to 490 PS), −30 kg, quicker steering and an optional Handling Speciale pack with stiffer springs and recalibrated dampers. The HELE stop‑start system appeared to trim emissions without dulling character. By 2014 the baton passed to the twin‑turbo California T, but the naturally aspirated original had already defined the template.
Pop culture took notice. Californias became fixtures in Los Angeles paparazzi shots; celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Ashton Kutcher were photographed in them, and Ferrari’s own F1 drivers of the era used Californias in promo footage around Maranello. The car also cropped up across music videos and lifestyle TV, shorthand for sunny‑day glamour with a Prancing Horse on the nose.
Curiosities? A vanishingly rare 6‑speed manual was technically available at launch; only a handful were ever built, making them modern unicorns. The folding hard‑top completed its ballet in roughly 14 seconds, and with the roof up the boot would swallow more luggage than any Ferrari before it. Critics who expected a track refugee eventually conceded its charm: the California wasn’t meant to replace a 430 Scuderia—it created its own lane, and in doing so, it quietly became one of Ferrari’s most commercially important cars of its era.
