Our Porsche 911 Type 997.2 Turbo, put on the road on 23 July 2010, now has a total of 75,199 km. Delivered new to the Beirut Porsche Center (Lebanon), it was then imported and registered in France, where it changed owners in July 2021.
Presented in Basalt-Schwarz Metallic (code LC9Z) combined with a black leather interior (code AT), this 911 Turbo is in very good overall condition. The body is clean and has no major flaws, while the cabin is well-maintained overall. All on-board instrumentation is operating normally.
Under the hood, we find the 3.8 twin-turbo Flat-6 developing 500 hp, coupled with the 7-speed PDK gearbox and all-wheel drive. The mechanical unit is in perfect working condition, and no costs are to be expected.

From Mezger icon to DFI rocket: the 997.2 Turbo landed for MY2010 and quietly rewrote the 911 Turbo rulebook. Out went the venerable 3.6 “Mezger” motor; in came Porsche’s new 3.8‑litre direct‑injection flat‑six (9A1), still breathing through variable‑geometry turbos. Power held steady at a headline 500 PS, but the way it was delivered – fatter torque across the revs and a Sport Chrono overboost to 700 Nm – made it feel relentlessly quick in any gear.
The other seismic change was the transmission. For the first time the Turbo could be had with PDK, Porsche’s 7‑speed dual‑clutch gearbox, complete with launch control. It turned the all‑weather 911 into a point‑and‑shoot missile, repeatedly delivering low‑3‑second 0–100 km/h runs in independent tests, yet sipping less fuel than before. Purists cheered that a slick 6‑speed manual remained on the order sheet, making the 997.2 the final 911 Turbo ever offered with a manual gearbox.
Chassis tech matured in parallel. PTM all‑wheel drive became more predictive, PASM damping was retuned, and options like Porsche Torque Vectoring with a mechanical rear diff and dynamic engine mounts broadened the car’s bandwidth. Wide‑body stance, LED lighting and that bi‑plane active rear wing underlined the purposeful look, while inside the updated PCM touchscreen finally dragged the Turbo’s infotainment into the modern era.
Competition was fierce. Nissan’s R35 GT‑R gate‑crashed the party with supercomputer speed at a bargain price, and Audi’s R8 V10 wooed with mid‑engined theatre. The Turbo’s answer was trademark Porsche polish: hydraulic steering feel, epic traction in foul weather, and daily‑driver civility that few true exotics could match. Contemporary reviews often marvelled at its repeatable performance and understated menace, even if some wished for a louder soundtrack and more drama at the limit.
In the brand’s arc, the 997.2 Turbo cemented the transition to DFI turbo power and mainstreamed PDK across the range, without sacrificing the 911’s usability. It also set the stage for the even brasher Turbo S, which grabbed headlines with 530 PS. Yet many enthusiasts still prize the standard 500 PS car for its relative simplicity, lighter spec and the option to row your own gears.
Pop culture didn’t miss it either: the 997.2 Turbo became a video‑game staple across Forza, Gran Turismo and Need for Speed, and featured in period TV road tests that pitted it against the GT‑R in stop‑watch wars. Fast, subtle and brutally effective, it was the consummate everyday supercar from 2010 to 2013 – and it remains a connoisseur’s choice today.
