Our BMW Z4M Coupé, first registered on September 22, 2006, now shows 64,500 km. Delivered new in France, it remains registered in the country and changed ownership on September 26, 2017. The current owner has held the car for nearly nine years and is a true BMW M enthusiast, with several M models to his name.
This example is finished in an elegant Titansilber Metallic exterior color, paired with a black leather interior. The bodywork is in very good overall condition, with only minor signs of wear noted on two wheels. The interior is equally well preserved, with the leather, steering wheel, and gear knob all in excellent condition. All dashboard instrumentation functions perfectly.
Powered by the naturally aspirated S54 inline-six producing 343 hp and paired with a manual gearbox, this Z4M Coupé delivers an authentic and engaging driving experience, true to the spirit of BMW M from the 2000s. The mechanical condition is excellent and the car has always been serviced within the BMW dealer network.
Maintenance has been carried out exclusively by BMW dealerships. The vehicle comes with its service booklet and the corresponding invoices.
All consumables are in very good condition, including the tires.
No modifications have been made to this example, which remains strictly in its original configuration.
This BMW Z4M Coupé is supplied with two keys, the certificate of administrative status, the service booklet, invoices, a valid technical inspection, and a CarVertical report available.
Clarification: the fixed-roof Z4 M Coupé is BMW internal code E86 (the E85 code refers to the Roadster). The M Coupé was built from 2006 to 2008, with some late registrations into 2009 in a few markets.
BMW’s Z4 M Coupé arrived as a rare throwback: a compact, front‑mid‑engined, rear‑drive two‑seater with a screaming naturally aspirated straight‑six and a manual gearbox only. Previewed as a concept in late 2005 and launched in 2006, it combined the stiffer E86 coupé shell with BMW M’s celebrated S54 3.2‑litre from the E46 M3. With 252 kW (343 PS) at 7,900 rpm and 365 Nm at 4,900 rpm, the last and most developed S54 turned the Z4 into a bona fide junior supercar hunter.
Why it existed at all owes much to motorsport and brand image. BMW wanted a more rigid platform than the Roadster for both road and racing; the Coupé’s hatchback body dramatically increased torsional rigidity and gave it useful practicality (300 litres of boot space). Around the Nürburgring and in VLN/long‑distance racing, Z4 M Coupés quickly proved competitive, underpinning BMW’s GT ambitions before the later GT3 era. Period testers praised the engine’s throttle response, hydraulic steering feel and the car’s mechanical limited‑slip diff, while also noting the firm ride and a rawness that made rivals like the Porsche Cayman S feel more polished but not always faster.
In the showroom the Z4 M Coupé faced the Cayman S (987), Nissan 350Z and Honda S2000. The Porsche often won on ultimate balance and cabin finish, yet the BMW countered with a more feral character and a spine‑tingling 8,000‑rpm redline. Critics in Evo, Autocar and Car and Driver lauded its immediacy; some flagged abrupt DSC intervention and cabin plastics as weak spots. Buyers who ‘got it’ loved that there was no SMG or auto option—just a Getrag 6‑speed, a clutch and old‑school feedback.
Built in relatively small numbers at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, the M Coupé has since developed cult status. Global production sat in the low thousands, making clean cars sought after. Fun fact: the Z4 M wore larger 345 mm front discs unique within the Z4 family, and its iconic quad pipes signalled an M car long before you heard the metallic snarl. In gaming it’s been a staple in Gran Turismo and Forza, cementing its legend with a new generation. Today, enthusiasts celebrate it as one of the last analogue M cars: hydraulic steering, a high‑revving NA straight‑six, compact dimensions and a limited‑slip diff—ingredients that defined an era and left a lasting imprint on BMW M’s identity.
