Our Jaguar MKII 3.8l, put into circulation during the year 1960, is an example of Dutch origin that has benefited from rigorous restoration and mechanical monitoring. Its current owner purchased it in 2023.
This model comes in a magnificent Silver color, combined with a Cream interior. The cabin has a beautiful patina and perfectly functional instrumentation. The body is in excellent condition, with a few minor flaws related to its age.
Under the hood, this Jaguar houses the 3.8L 220-horsepower engine, coupled to a mechanical gearbox with Overdrive. This example also has electric power steering. The maintenance was carried out by renowned specialists (Lady Art Car, OE Boche Auto, AVM Auto, Atelier Classic Auto) with meticulous follow-up attested by a complete and available history. The last revision is carried out in 2024 and no costs are to be expected. Among the numerous works carried out, we note:
It should also be noted that this copy has a Moto-Lita steering wheel.
The Jaguar MkII 3.8, produced from 1959 to 1967, is a mid-size sports saloon made in Coventry, England. It succeeds the MkI (1955—1959) and embodies the Jaguar motto: “Grace, Space, Pace”. Available with three engines from the XK family (2.4, 3.4 and 3.8 liters), it is the 3.8-liter version that stands out for its performance.
Equipped with the same engine block as the E-Type 3.8, it develops 220 hp with a configuration with two SU carburettors, compared to three for the E-Type. It is equipped with a limited-slip differential, a manual gearbox with overdrive or an optional automatic transmission. Braking was provided by four-wheel discs, a novelty for the time.
The aesthetics are evolving with an 18% larger glass area, a larger windshield and an enveloping rear window. The interior gets a new heating system and instrument layout that will become the norm at Jaguar.
The MkII 3.8 was gradually replaced by the S-Type (1963), then by the 420 (1966) and finally by the XJ6 (1968), which merged the previous Jaguar ranges into a single model.
