Our Land Rover Range Rover “Classic” was delivered new in France in 1988. It then had 5 owners, including the last since 2008.
This copy is in very good condition, in particular thanks to the restoration of numerous elements. In a Raptor black color, it has a completely repainted body. The black interior benefits from a refurbishment of the leather upholstery and is in good overall condition.
Our Land Rover Range Rover is working perfectly. The 163-horsepower 3.9-liter Rover V8 engine combined with the 4-speed ZF automatic transmission is as efficient as ever. Numerous maintenance invoices from specialists are in our possession. The restoration also involved the rehabilitation of the air system, the installation of a new alternator, 4 new shock absorbers, a stainless steel exhaust, a new engine radiator and more.
It has expertise attesting to its good condition.
In 1970, the Rover brand, which would take the name Land Rover a few years later, developed a new range. The Range Rover is an all-terrain vehicle that meets the growing demand for SUVs on the market. Offered in a two-door version for the first 11 years, it evolved in 1981 and began its history in the United States during the Los Angeles Auto Show in 1987.
Range Rover has the difficult task of making the link between purely functional vehicles and a vehicle with sufficient stylistic appeal to conquer the market. The designer David Bache manages to find a balance and gives it a distinguished style, while maintaining the simple and functional character of the model.
The Land Rover Range Rover has relatively small dimensions, with 4.47 m long, 1.78m wide and 1.80m high. The exterior styling remains very simple, with a radiator grill and a line without superfluous elements. As a result, his style allows him to stay in the era of the times. Mechanically, the first models until 1979 were equipped with the 3.5 liter 135 horsepower Rover V8.
In 1982, changes were made to the gearbox, with the appearance of an optional automatic transmission (three-speed Chrysler then 4-speed ZF in 1985.) For its part, the engine will be made reliable in 1988 with a new injection system and will produce 163 horsepower.
