Here are the options and equipment available to this copy:
The 2007 Mercedes SL500 belongs to the fifth generation of the SL-Class, designated R230, produced between 2001 and 2011. The acronym “SL” means “Sport Leicht” or “Super Leicht”, according to various historical sources, translatable as “Light Sport” in French.
Derived from the 1952 300 SL race car concept, the SL became a grand tourer icon driven by the American market after World War II. The R230 generation introduces technical innovations such as the “Vario Roof” retractable hardtop and the “Active Body Control” active suspension.
In 2006, the SL500 model (renamed SL550 in North America) received an evolution of its V8 engine, from 5.0 to 5.5 liters, with power increased to 388 horsepower. This version comes just before the major restyling in 2008, which notably revised the front end based on the design of the original 300 SL.
Equipped with an electro-hydraulic “Sensotronic Brake Control” braking system, which was later withdrawn for reliability reasons, the 2007 SL500 combines advanced technical solutions with clean styling. Of the entire R230 production, nearly 100,000 SL500s were sold, making it the most widely distributed model of this generation.
