The Porsche Cayman GTS 981 was introduced in 2014, completing the range of the third-generation Cayman (type 981), itself launched a year earlier. Developed based on the Boxster platform, this mid-engine coupe version uses the technical base of the S model, with some mechanical and aesthetic evolutions.
It is equipped with a 3.4-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine, delivering 340 horsepower, 15 more than the Cayman S. version. The engine can be combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox or the 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. The 0-100 km/h speed is announced in 4.6 seconds with the PDK gearbox.
The GTS is also distinguished by its slightly redesigned bumpers, a standard sports exhaust, and PASM active suspensions, lowering the body by 20mm. It includes several elements of the SportChrono Pack, in particular the dynamic engine mounts.
Made in Osnabrück, Germany, the Cayman GTS marks the last atmospheric evolution before the transition to turbo on the next generation, the 718. Today, it remains a reference for lovers of high speed engines and chassis and engine balance in a central-rear configuration.
