Like the “Speedy Kiwi” displayed on his race cars, New Zealand driver Bruce McLaren is in a hurry. In 1963, at the age of 26, he founded McLaren Motor Racing in order to race with his own cars and became one of the few manufacturer drivers. But the momentum was shattered by a fatal accident in 1970 in Goodwood. He was then studying a McLaren road car, the M6GT, which was not followed up. On the other hand, his F1 team will be one of the most victorious. It was not until 1992 that the first McLaren road, called... F1, was created at the initiative of Ron Denis, owner of the team.
