The most appealing aspect of the 1950s vision of the future was its unwavering optimism. Here is a glaring illustration of this. Imagine that serious people, engineers at Curtis Wright, in this case, a major renowned aircraft manufacturer, really considered marketing this incredible machine. A “car” on an air cushion, propelled, steered and, if all goes well, slowed down by air jets... Emergency braking not allowed! Add to that the awful din of the two huge propellers and a ridiculous cabin despite the dimensions of a truck. Needless to say, it didn't work!
