Our Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, first registered on December 5, 2005, now shows 114,100 km. Originally delivered in Germany, it is currently registered in France and is a third-owner vehicle.

Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (2004–2010) arrived as Maranello’s first all‑aluminium, genuinely adult‑sized 2+2, replacing the 456M. Styled at Pininfarina under Ken Okuyama and named in honour of coachbuilder Sergio Scaglietti, its scalloped flanks paid tribute to the 1954 375 MM built for Roberto Rossellini and often seen in the shade Grigio Ingrid, after Ingrid Bergman.
Launched in 2004, the 612 combined a front‑mid 5.7‑litre V12 with a rear transaxle to achieve a near‑ideal 46:54 weight split. With 540 PS (533 hp) and a top speed of 315 km/h, it was more than a match for period rivals like the Aston Martin DB9/DBS and Bentley Continental GT, while offering something those cars often couldn’t: two rear seats that adults could actually use and a 105‑litre tank for real grand touring.
Ferrari iterated the car continuously. From 2006, HGTS (sport exhaust, quicker F1 software, chassis tuning) and HGTC (adding carbon‑ceramic brakes and stiffer springs/ARBs) sharpened responses. In 2007 the limited Sessanta (60 cars for Ferrari’s 60th anniversary) introduced the headline electrochromic glass roof. That tech became the poster feature of the 2008–2010 One‑To‑One (OTO) program, which also brought standard CCM brakes, 20‑inch Challenge wheels, an updated infotainment/Bose system, and a faster‑shifting F1A with a steering‑wheel manettino. Customers could spec cars to atelier level long before “Tailor Made” became a brand.
Period testers praised its bandwidth: supple ride and serene cabin one moment; authentic V12 pace and composure the next. Critiques focused on its size and the single‑clutch F1’s low‑speed manners, yet many declared it the best‑driving four‑seat Ferrari to that point. Top Gear famously lauded its real‑world usability, and the 612 became a favourite among owners who actually piled on miles.
Ferrari used the 612 as a reliability ambassador: the 2005 China Tour saw two cars cover roughly 24,000 km across deserts and mountains, followed by the 2008 Magic India Discovery run—PR stunts that worked, because the cars finished essentially unflustered. The platform also underpinned curiosities like Giugiaro’s GG50 concept and the one‑off 612 K for collector Peter Kalikow. In video games from Gran Turismo to Test Drive Unlimited, the big V12 GT gained a digital afterlife.
As a bridge between analogue V12 romance and modern Ferrari technology, the 612 reshaped the brand’s grand‑touring brief. It proved a Ferrari could be fast, beautiful and genuinely practical—paving the way for the four‑seat FF and GTC4Lusso that followed.
