Our Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 SC, first registered on 1 July 1986, currently has 55,900 miles on the clock. Originally from the United States, it is currently registered in France. Exported to the Netherlands in June 2017, it was then acquired in Hamburg by its current owner in May 2022.
This example is presented in an elegant Almond Beige Metallic shade, paired with a beige "Tennis" leather interior. The bodywork is in very good overall condition for its age, with some stone chips on the front bumper and mirrors, as well as a small blemish on the rear bumper. The interior is in good condition, with well-preserved carpets, leather, fabrics, and headliner, free from tears or stains. The dashboard instrumentation is fully functional.
Under the bonnet, the 3.2-litre flat-six develops 231 hp and is paired with a manual gearbox. This iconic 911 configuration offers a particularly authentic driving experience, true to the spirit of the Carrera models of this generation.
This example benefits from specialist maintenance. It has a CARFAX history from the United States, a stamped service book up to 2005, a Porsche Europe certificate, and some French invoices.

Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 (G-series, 1984–1989) arrived as the swansong of the classic, torsion‑bar 911. After the 3.0 SC, Porsche planned to shift focus to the 928, but CEO Peter Schutz famously drew a longer line on a product chart and told engineers to keep the 911 alive. The result was the reborn Carrera name and a 3.2‑litre heart that married old‑school character to modern electronics.
At its core sat an air‑cooled flat‑six enlarged to 3164 cc by combining a 95 mm bore with the 3.3 Turbo’s 74.4 mm crank. Bosch Motronic/DME brought precise ignition and fuel management, unlocking strong mid‑range and reliability. In most markets the engine delivered 231 PS at 5900 rpm and 284 Nm at 4800 rpm; US‑spec cars made 207–217 hp due to emissions and compression changes. Early cars used the familiar 915 five‑speed; from 1987 the slicker Getrag G50 with a hydraulic clutch became a key upgrade and is still a major buying beacon today.
The Carrera 3.2 kept the iconic impact‑bumper silhouette but subtly evolved the package: galvanised body, improved fender‑mounted radiator‑type oil cooler, bigger alternator, better A/C and heating, and a raft of detail changes through the run. Buyers could choose Coupé, Targa or Cabriolet, order Fuchs in 15 or 16 inches, add spoilers, or spec the coveted M491 “Turbo‑Look” with 930 suspension, brakes and wide arches. At the purist end sat the lightweight Club Sport (1987–89), pared back for track work and blueprinted for razor responses. The final flourish was the 1989 Speedster—low screen, double‑hump rear deck—an instant collectible.
On the road the 3.2 was the archetypal driver’s 911: unassisted steering brimming with feel, strong brakes on ventilated discs, and that trademark rear‑engined balance—secure when smooth, spiky if clumsy. Period testers lauded its tractability and build quality, while noting the 915’s notchiness; by 1987 many wrote that the G50 finally gave the performance the gearbox deserved. Typical figures told the story: around 6.1 s to 100 km/h and about 245 km/h flat out for a Euro Coupé.
Context? It sparred with Ferrari’s 308/328, Lotus Esprit and the Corvette C4, yet few rivals blended day‑to‑day civility with weekend fury as deftly. Porsche even took the 3.2‑based 911 4x4 “953” to victory in the 1984 Paris‑Dakar—proof of the engine’s toughness. The Carrera 3.2 also became an ’80s cultural staple, from glossy ads to music‑video cameos, its Fuchs and whale‑tail/tea‑tray silhouettes pinned to bedroom walls worldwide.
Legacy is huge. More than 76,000 were built, and enthusiasts still call it the last truly “classic” 911 before the 964 added power steering, ABS and airbags. Durable, charismatic and endlessly tuneable (a simple DME chip and exhaust wake them up), the 3.2 cemented the 911’s future and Porsche’s identity in the 1980s.
