Our Porsche 911 Type 997 Carrera, delivered new in Germany on December 13, 2007, shows 105,000 KM today. It was imported into France and changed ownership on August 2, 2024.
This copy is presented in a Gray color, combined with a black leather interior. The body is in good overall condition, while the interior shows slight signs of leather wear, consistent with use. All the on-board instrumentation is working perfectly.
Equipped with the naturally aspirated 3.6L flat-6 developing 325 horsepower, this 997 is combined with a recently revised Tiptronic automatic transmission. The mechanics are in perfect working condition. No costs are to be expected.
The interview was followed up at the Porsche Center and by a specialist:

Porsche 911 (997.1) Carrera 3.6 – 2005–2008
When the 997-generation 911 arrived, Porsche deliberately pivoted back to classic 911 cues after the controversial 996: round headlamps returned, the cabin quality took a big leap, and the driving experience was honed rather than reinvented. The entry-point for purists was the Carrera with its naturally aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six. Rated at 325 hp, it was lighter over the nose than the S and carried a sweeter-revving character that many testers called the connoisseur’s choice.
Period reviews from Europe and the US praised the car’s hydraulic steering feel and the balance of its rear-engined layout. Car and Driver and Evo lauded the 997 for being both a precision instrument on a mountain road and easy to live with every day. Criticism mostly fell on the ageing five‑speed Tiptronic automatic (PDK wouldn’t arrive until the 2008 facelift) and the firm ride on optional 19-inch wheels with PASM in its stiffest mode. Still, with the six‑speed manual and standard 18s, the Carrera delivered that trademark 911 fluency.
Competition in the mid‑2000s was fierce: Aston Martin’s new V8 Vantage, BMW’s incoming E92 M3, the Jaguar XK (X150), Chevrolet’s C6 Corvette and, by 2007, Audi’s mid‑engined R8. The 997 Carrera held its ground with surgical front‑end bite, stout brakes and everyday ergonomics that rivals struggled to match. Porsche’s options list also let owners tailor the car: PASM adaptive dampers, Sport Chrono, a factory short‑shift, Porsche Sports Exhaust, limited‑slip differential and even the X51 Powerkit that lifted the 3.6 to about 350 PS for track‑day regulars.
Beyond paper specs, the 997 helped reset the brand’s compass. It reassured long‑time fans after the 996 era, while its broader appeal (and robust sales) underwrote Porsche’s expansion into models like the Cayenne and, later, Panamera. It became a video‑game staple (Need for Speed and Forza era) and a Top Gear regular, embedding the 997 silhouette into mid‑2000s pop culture. Fun fact: Porsche continued to offer a 90‑litre long‑range fuel tank option, a nod to the 911’s GT roots and Autobahn heritage. Enthusiasts also note that the 3.6‑litre is generally less prone to the bore‑scoring worries that sometimes shadow the 3.8 S, and by the 997 the infamous IMS concerns from early 996 days were largely engineered out.
As a package, the 997.1 Carrera distilled the 911 idea—rear‑engine character, telepathic steering, real‑world usability—into a timeless sweet spot. Today it’s sought after for exactly those qualities, especially with three pedals, a limited‑slip diff and a well‑chosen options sheet.
