Our Land Rover 88 Series 3 was delivered new in Switzerland and put into circulation on the 1^Er March 1982. Its previous owner, a mechanic by profession, has carried out a complete mechanical restoration, which will be continued mechanically and aesthetically by its current owner in accordance with the rules of the art.

This copy is in excellent general condition, testifying to the quality of the restoration carried out. Its odometer shows 15,829 KM, with only 500 kilometers covered since its restoration. In its Pastel Green hue, combined with limestone wheels, dark beige tarpaulin and sublime black faux leather upholstery, this Land Rover is in its original strict configuration and is free of defects. No corrosion is to be deplored.

Mechanically, all engine — gearbox — transfer case — transfer case — overdrive — bridges — chassis components have been restored, allowing perfect functioning. The 71-horsepower 2.3-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine, combined with the 4-speed manual gearbox, allows you to easily pass over crossings and kilometers. The interviews were carried out by specialists and the various works are documented. The last maintenance is carried out in 2024.

Introduced in 1971, the Land Rover Series 3 is an improved version of the Series 2 and 2A previously released. Produced at the historic Solihull factory between 1973 and 1985, the 3 Series once again shows all of Land Rover's expertise in terms of crossing, with a vehicle capable of driving in the most demanding environments. Numerous mechanical improvements appear, but most of the parts remain interchangeable between the Series 3 and the Series 2A.

It is equipped with the fully synchronized 4-speed gearbox used on the late 2A Series, as well as headlights mounted at the front of the wings and a stylish plastic radiator grill to replace the metal radiator grill. The hood is redesigned with a rounded edge and a recessed spare tire complements the exterior aesthetic changes. The cabin has been partially revised, with a modern-looking plastic dashboard, involving the movement of instruments directly in front of the driver for a more upscale appearance.

The electrical system is also improved, with the old Lucas generator being replaced by a more efficient and reliable alternator. On the engine side, the engine used on the 2A Series is retained, i.e. the 2.25-liter 4-cylinder for short wheelbase models. It was slightly modified in 1980 with the increase in the number of main levels from three to five. The engine was renamed “2.3 liters” and produced 71 horsepower at 4000 rpm.
