Our Mercedes-Benz 560 SL, put into circulation on January 1, 1987, has now totalled 97,000 miles. Imported from Florida in March 2018, it changed owners in October 2022.

Presented in the Signal Red color (code 71-89) combined with a beige interior, this 560 SL offers an elegant configuration that is faithful to the original spirit. The body has been completely redone and is in excellent condition, as is the cabin, with no significant defects. The on-board instrumentation works perfectly, with the exception of cruise control, a common feature on this model.

Under the hood, the 5.6-liter V8 delivers all its softness and flexibility, combined with the original automatic transmission. The mechanics are in perfect working order and no costs are to be expected.

Maintenance has been rigorously monitored since the beginning, especially in the United States and then in France, where the car has benefited from numerous restoration works carried out by the current owner, a mechanic by profession.

The Mercedes-Benz 560 SL (type R107) embodies the latest evolution in an iconic line, produced from 1971 to 1989. Introduced in 1985 for the North American market, this 560 version ended the series with the most powerful engine ever offered on an R107 roadster.

Under the hood, we find a 5.6-liter V8 developing 230 horsepower in its European version, combined with a four-speed automatic transmission. The generous torque favors flexibility and comfort of use, more than the absolute search for performance. The top speed exceeds 220 km/h, while the car maintains its character as a large convertible designed for long distances.

The chassis is based on a rear axle with pull arms and a double wishbone front suspension, guaranteeing stability and precision despite a weight of over 1,600 kg. The body, designed by Friedrich Geiger, remains faithful to the original silhouette, with its long hood, removable hard-top and straight lines typical of the 80s.

On board, the atmosphere combines leather, wood and simple instrumentation, faithful to the rigor of the brand. The 560 SL symbolizes the end of an era at Mercedes: that of roadsters built like grand touring cars, before the arrival of the most modern SL R129.
