Reducing weight rather than adding power: that was Colin Chapman's philosophy. Born in 1928, the British engineer revolutionized motorsport with Lotus, designing vehicles where agility took precedence over brute force. His mantra, “Simplify, then add lightness”, gave birth to icons like the Lotus Seven and the Elan. His lightweight cars surpassed the competition in their handling, and although his radical ideas were sometimes forbidden, his genius allowed him to win no less than seven F1 world championship titles.
