Born in 1878, Lionel Martin is passionate about cars and speed. When he co-founded the company “Bamford & Martin” with Robert Bamford in 1913, he did not resist the call of competition for long. His victory at the Aston Hill Climb gave him the idea of the name for his future cars: Aston Martin. Officially launched in 1915, Aston Martin unveiled the Coal Scuttle, the first model in a long line. Financial difficulties in 1924 and 1925, followed by the closure of the factory in 1926, caused Lionel Martin to leave, leaving the brand in the hands of numerous investors.
