Our BMW M635 CSi was delivered new in Germany on July 12, 1985. It was imported into France, where it has been registered ever since, and changed ownership on 16 March 2022. This copy shows 170,000 kilometers.
Presented in its original Diamantschwarz color (code 181) combined with a black leather interior, this M635 CSi is in very good overall condition. The paint has been completely redone recently, and the cabin is well preserved for its age. All the on-board instrumentation is fully functional.
Under the hood, we find the legendary 3.5L 6-cylinder in-line engine, developing 286 horsepower, directly derived from that of the BMW M1. The car is equipped with a manual gearbox, and the mechanics work perfectly. It has always been maintained by authorized BMW professionals or vintage specialists, and no costs are expected.

Presented in 1983, the BMW M635 CSi (E24) marked the arrival of the “M” badge on the 6 Series grand coupe. It is also one of the first series-produced BMWs to receive an engine directly from competition. Under its long hood, we indeed find the M88/3 inline six-cylinder, derived from the M1 block, with 286 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 340 Nm of torque.
This engine, combined with a five-speed manual gearbox, allows the coupe to exceed 250 km/h, in relative silence, typical of GTs from the 80s. The chassis is lowered and firmed up compared to the standard 635 CSi, with a self-locking differential and reinforced brakes.
Aesthetically, the M635 CSi is not very distinctive: a discreet front spoiler, specific rims, and the voluntary absence of fireworks. On board, the furniture is identical to that of a high-end 6 Series, with some details specific to the M version.
Produced until 1989, it remains a transitional figure today: between the grand tourism tradition and the first milestones of the Motorsport branch applied to the road. A model apart, often overshadowed by its more radical descendants, but fundamental to the history of BMW M.
