Our Jaguar XK120 DHC, introduced in 1954, was imported from the United States in 1992 before being acquired by its current owner in 2011.
This copy comes in an English Green color, combined with a Beige leather interior and a soft top in the same color. The body is in very good condition, with only one slight scratch on the left rear. The well-preserved interior and the functional on-board instrumentation attest to the care given to this vehicle.
Under the hood, this XK120 has a 3.4L inline six-cylinder engine developing 160 horsepower, coupled to a 5-speed mechanical gearbox. This example has benefited from numerous discreet improvements, aimed at increasing reliability and comfort:
The maintenance was carried out by a specialist in classic vehicles, with a complete file of invoices since 2011. This copy is completely rust-free. A complete overhaul was carried out in February 2025, guaranteeing optimal mechanical condition. No costs are to be expected.
The Jaguar XK120, produced between 1948 and 1954, is Jaguar's first sports model since the SS 100 was discontinued in 1939. Presented at the London Motor Show in 1948, it was initially used as a showcase for the new XK engine, designed by William Heynes. Faced with the enthusiasm of the public, the founder of Jaguar, William Lyons, decided to put it into production.
The first 242 examples were built with a wooden structure and an aluminum body, before a switch to steel in 1950. Its name refers to its maximum speed of 120 mph (190 km/h), making it the fastest production car in the world at the time. During a test in Belgium in 1949, a prototype even reached 217 km/h.
The model is available in three versions: roadster (OTS), coupe (FHC) and convertible (DHC). Its 3.4L six-cylinder twin-camshaft engine develops 160 hp with a four-speed manual gearbox. The XK120 shines in racing and endurance, exceeding 100 mph over 24 hours in Montlhéry.
One of the first copies was delivered to actor Clark Gable. Today, the XK120 is an icon of the 1950s.
