In 1955, Abarth, then still relatively unknown, launched its first tuning kit for a mass-market model: the Fiat 600. Renamed the Fiat 750 Abarth, the little sports car was an immediate hit. But Carlo Abarth had bigger ambitions. With the help of Franco Scaglione, he transformed the 750 into a single-seater with a futuristic body and a featherweight of just 385 kg.

In June 1956, the car took to the Monza circuit… and made history. It set the 24-hour endurance record with an average speed of 155.985 km/h. It was the first in a long line of 133 records for the Scorpion!
