Our Jaguar XJR-S V12, delivered new in Germany on May 26, 1992, has now reached 102,000 km. It was imported into France and its current owner acquired it on December 15, 2022.
This example comes in the rare Flamenco Red shade, combined with a beige leather interior with red stitching. The body is in very good condition, the paint having been redone, while the interior is distinguished by its exceptional presentation for a vehicle of this age. The on-board instrumentation works normally, except for the radio, a recurring problem on Jaguars of this generation.
Under the hood, the naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 develops 308 horsepower, combined with an automatic transmission. The mechanics are in excellent working condition and have been the subject of numerous recent expenses, especially in 2021. The ignition has been completely revised.
The Pirelli P Zero tires have recently been changed. The consumables are in very good overall condition.
In 2021 and 2025, several major operations were carried out:
No costs are to be expected. No modifications or replacements of non-conforming elements have been made.
This Jaguar is accompanied by its 2025 expertise report, its maintenance invoices, its technical inspection and its collector's registration document. The carVertical report is available upon request.

From Le Mans glory to road-going GT bruiser — the Jaguar XJR‑S was the first true product of JaguarSport, the 1988 joint venture between Jaguar and Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR). Fresh from Group C domination and the XJR‑9’s 1988 Le Mans win, Jaguar needed a halo to inject some motorsport fizz into the long‑serving XJ‑S. The XJR‑S arrived that same year as a limited‑production, hand‑finished evolution of Coventry’s V12 grand tourer, wearing a deeper aero kit, unique wheels and a discreet XJR‑S script that hinted at the TWR magic underneath.
Early cars carried a reworked 5.3‑litre HE V12 good for roughly 308–318 hp (market dependent), followed by a JaguarSport‑developed 6.0‑litre (approx. 5,987 cc) with around 322–333 hp and a big swell of torque. The chassis got the same attention: shorter springs, stiffer rates, Bilstein‑type dampers, revised bushings and geometry, plus meatier tyres on exclusive Speedline alloys. The effect was transformative. Contemporary testers in the UK and Germany praised the newfound precision and high‑speed stability, calling it the XJ‑S “finally allowed to be the car its engine always promised.”
Built in small numbers from 1988 into 1993, the XJR‑S faced down contemporary GT rivals like the Porsche 928 S4/GT, Mercedes‑Benz 560 SEC and, later, BMW’s 850i. Where the Germans delivered clinical pace, the Jaguar answered with operatic V12 noise, long‑legged composure and a charismatic, hand‑finished feel. It also previewed the direction Jaguar would take through the 1990s: the XJR‑S’s enlarged V12 and chassis tuning informed later factory 6.0‑litre XJS updates and helped seed Jaguar’s modern ‘R’ performance identity, soon to appear on the supercharged XJR saloons.
Although the XJ‑S itself was a TV regular (most famously in British series and period adverts), the rarer XJR‑S tended to be an insider’s choice: a connoisseur’s GT often spotted in period road tests and JaguarSport brochures that leaned into the Le Mans connection. Magazine critiques were remarkably consistent: they applauded the tauter body control, steering accuracy and epic cross‑continent pace, while noting the thirsty V12 and the GM400 three‑speed automatic’s relaxed character. Manuals are sometimes whispered about, but production XJR‑S examples are overwhelmingly automatics.
Fun detail: JaguarSport offered distinctive paints and trim not seen on standard cars, and many XJR‑S cars carry plaques and build plates identifying their JaguarSport provenance. Total production stayed low—roughly a thousand‑plus worldwide—adding to the car’s cult status today. More than a tuned XJ‑S, the XJR‑S is the moment Jaguar’s racing success bled convincingly into its road‑car DNA, with a soundtrack and stance that still stop enthusiasts in their tracks.
